Thoughts from my bed...

The most recent book I devoured was Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote. I am such an enthusiast of the 1920's era for fiction, it always seems to be a time filled with extravagance, drama, loss, and love.

Much like Fitzgerald's iconic novella The Great Gatsby, Capote writes from the perspective of the first person narrator, who through his peripheral perspective sheds light on the characters in the story in such a raw and emotional way. In the film adaptation, Holly Golightly (the main character) is dramatised to be this glamorous young gal with a bit of a tortured soul. Even though the same goes in the novel, there is a selfishness and ignorance about Golightly that made me hate her in some places. But, like the narrator, you become sucked into her world, so desperate to know what she is going to do next. In all, I would highly recommend to anyone who wants an easy, short little holiday read (I read mine on a sunlounger in Oludeniz).

I have entered that awkward stage in life where I have graduated from university, but have no proper solid life plan / want to run away from all adult responsibilities. However, I did just have a successful phone call sorting out bills for my new house so, you know, small wins.

I put out a general enquiry on Instagram earlier for any new podcasts for me to listen to. I have been so inspired to start my own recently, after being lucky enough to co-host my own radio show this year I am so keen to continue something similar. One of my friends recommended one called 'My Dad Wrote a Porno' which is exactly what it sounds like. I am listening to it right now and it is absolutely hilarious, so I'm going to link it in case you are also on the hunt for something new to listen to.  http://www.mydadwroteaporno.com/podcast/

. Things I am trying to remember right now:
- Friends are for a reason, a season or a lifetime... make sure you suss out who is who and act accordingly
- Things take time and perseverance is key (i.e, working out, applying for jobs, trying to teach mum how to use a mobile phone)
- Be curious and learn more
